Injectable Fillers - Botox, Restylane, Fat Injections

Soft tissue augmentation through injectables are popular since they offer practically instantaneous results with little downtime. BOTOX® is the only FDA approved neurotoxin for facial use, and when injected into muscles can effectively treat frown lines and crow's feet. Most commonly performed in the area between the eyebrows, to soften and smooth the lines that cause an angry look or frown. Results usually last from three to four months.

Dr Edween will inject enough Botox to get the desired effect on the wrinkles, but still allow for some natural facial movement.

Soft tissue fillers

Soft tissue fillers are injectables which are placed in the areas of the face which have lost volume and fullness. They help plump up fine lines and restore a more smooth and youthful appearance. There are a variety of fillers that are available, and sometimes you may need a combination of products to get the best restoration to the area. My patient's satisfaction rate is high; they get a woman's soft touch combined with my innate aesthetic sense states Dr. Edween.

Collagen, an animal based product which requires allergy testing, used to fill wrinkles, creases and depressed scars, also effective for plumping lips

Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast derived from human collagen, no allergy test required, results generally last from two to three months.

Hylaform/Hylaform Plus: hyaluronic acid derived from rooster combs. No allergy test is required. Results last up about six months.

Restylane, a non animal based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acids plays an integral role in your skins structure, and acts as a building block to fill the space between collagen and elastin fibers in the skin, holding in moisture and maintaining skin's volume. Used for decreasing the appearance of fine lines, creases, and depressed scars. Also effective for plumping lips. Results last six months or more.

Radiesse/Radiance: Calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres designed for deeper creases and wrinkles as well as sculpting the face and small imperfections of the nose. Results last three years or more.

Fat injections: Donor and treatment sites require anesthesia. Minimal downtime when small amounts of fat are injected into face. Used to fill frown lines, smile lines and help restore overall volume loss in the cheeks. May need a few treatments for long lasting results

Tip: Before any injectable procedure, avoid any anti-inflammatory medications, aspirin or Vitamin E in the days before the procedure.
