Thigh Liposuction in Beverly Hills
How Does Liposuction Work?
iposuction, commonly shortened to “lipo,” is a cosmetic surgical procedure that reshapes your body by removing fat deposits from under the skin. It can be used on both men and women, and many different parts of the body, such as the arms, legs, abdomen, even the chin and neck. Dr. Julie Edween offers thigh liposuction to help you create the body shape you’ve always wanted.
Liposuction is best considered when conventional methods for losing weight, such as eating a healthy diet and getting lots of exercise, have proven ineffective. You should be in good health and already at or near your ideal weight. Liposuction should not be used as a weight loss tool, but as a method to make fine adjustments to your body shape.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, local anesthesia, or intravenous sedation, whatever works best for you. Your doctor makes a tiny incision in the treatment area, then inserts a thin hollow tube called a cannula. The cannula is moved back and forth to loosen fat deposits. Then a surgical vacuum or syringe is used to suction the fat out of the body.
Results will become apparent within several days as the swelling and fluid retention associated with the operation subsides. Make sure to follow your doctor’s instructions for post-op care very closely, or you may need follow-up surgery to correct your results.
The Thigh Liposuction Procedure
Thigh liposuction follows the general outline of the liposuction procedure, and is sometimes accompanied by additional work on your buttocks, hips, and abdomen to ensure proper body proportioning.
Patients often request thigh liposuction to prevent their upper thighs from rubbing together or chafing. The procedure ensures a slim silhouette that will boost your self-confidence.
While recovering from thigh liposuction, you may have to wear a compression garment or elastic bandages to control swelling and compress your skin, shaping it into its new contours. Do not subject your surgical incisions to abrasion, force, or unnecessary motion while they heal. Even though your body naturally loses some firmness as you age, most of your new body shape will be permanent.
