Breast Lifts in Beverly Hills

Periareolar / Circumareolar / Benelli Breast Lift

A breast lift, also called a mastopexy, is a cosmetic surgical procedure intended to reshape the breasts depending on a patient’s aesthetic needs. It can make the breasts firmer and rounder,

reverse breast drooping (ptosis), correct asymmetry, or change the size and shape of the nipple and areola.

There are several types of breast lift available depending on the amount of correction needed.

This is generally the most modest type of breast lift. An incision is made around the areola in a circular shape, which is why it is sometimes referred to as a “donut” breast lift. Skin is removed in a donut pattern around the nipple and the breast is drawn in tighter toward the areola. The incision can be made part of the way around the areola in a crescent shape (periareolar) or all the way around (circumareolar).

Lollipop Breast Lift

Also called a vertical breast lift, this procedure combines a circular incision around the areola with a vertical incision from the bottom of the areola to the breast crease, forming a “lollipop” pattern. This procedure is better suited for women who have larger breasts with some sagging, as it enables the surgeon to remove excess tissue from the underside of the breast.

The resulting reshaped breast has a more youthful appearance, with the shape of a rounded cone rather than an elongated oval. The nipple and areola usually must be moved upward to remain in proportion to the rest of the breast.

Inverted T Breast Lift

This is the most complex type of breast lift. The circumareolar and vertical incisions are joined by another incision along the breast crease beneath the undersides of the breasts, forming an “anchor” pattern or upside-down T.

This type of breast lift is usually used to address advanced ptosis. It may be combined with breast reduction if needed. Since there are more incisions, the healing process is longer and scarring will be more extensive.

Augmentation Breast Lift

Any of these types of breast lift may be combined with breast augmentation. A saline or silicone implant may be inserted using the incisions already created for the breast lift. Discuss this option with your surgeon to determine your aesthetic goals.
