If you’ve already had a rhinoplasty surgery but you’re not happy with the results, you may want to consider a revision rhinoplasty for a better outcome. Revision rhinoplasty is still a relatively common procedure to have, but if you’re thinking of going underneath the knife, there’s a few things you’ll want to consider first.

Allow Plenty of Time for Healing

There’s a reason why so many plastic surgeons will ask you to wait at least a year (or longer) before they’ll schedule a revision rhinoplasty. A normal rhinoplasty can take up to eighteen months for the swelling to go down and the healing process to finish.

This waiting time may be frustrating, but the longer you’ll wait, the softer the scar tissue will be, and the easier it’ll be for your plastic surgeon to give you the results you want.

Be Flexible About Your Results

Speaking of results, you may need to be flexible about what you want from your revision rhinoplasty. Since your facial plastic surgeon is working around existing scar tissue, they may need to be more careful so as not to cause serious damage to your nose.

However, even small changes can yield better results with your revision rhinoplasty than you may think.

Pick a Doctor Wisely

If you weren’t happy with your original plastic surgeon’s work, it’s likely that you’ll be on the lookout for a new doctor for your revision rhinoplasty. You’ll want to pick your new surgeon carefully. This means reading reviews from previous patients, looking at before and after pictures of their work, and even checking out the doctor’s credentials.

Once you’ve found a doctor that you think may be the right choice, don’t hesitate to schedule an appointment and scope out the surgeon. If you’re not comfortable, don’t feel pressured to go through with the surgery – instead, resume your search until you find the right doctor.
